Antique Kimono Haori Jacket - Diagonal & Straight Stripes/ Mahogany & Black

HK$2,480.00

1900s-1910s, Japan

Stunning in its simplicity and timeless pattern. A very high quality piece from Taisho era Japan, this kimono jacket of soft drapey silk is masterfully patterned with a clever set of lines and dots, creating the illusion of both diagonal and vertical strips. The expensive damask silk has been hand dyed in black and mahogany brown, with the fade spray effect seen during this period. The silk lining is amazingly beautiful with its Art Nouveau influenced hand-painted resist-dye design. Closes at center front with handwoven ties of white, pink, and black.

This haori is great for pairing with any outfit to add interest, culture and colour, and can even be worn reversed to display the lining! Treat it as a cardigan with shorts and a tee in the summer, or pair with formal shirts, dresses, or even a soft turtleneck.
