Antique Kimono Haori Jacket - Peony Cart & Stars/ Cherry Red Damask

HK$1,280.00

1940s-1950s, Japan

A beautiful piece from Showa era Japan, this kimono jacket of crisp, tailoring silk is masterfully woven with patterns of carts overflowing with large peonies, joined by traditional motifs of fading stars. The contrast between the gorgeous black cherry damask silk and the scarlet sheen of the underlying pattern is best showcased as the dramatic piece moves through light. Lined in a silk with designs of pink chrysanthemum flowers. Closes at center front with handwoven mauve-pink ties.

This haori is great for pairing with any outfit to add interest, culture and colour, and can even be worn reversed to display the lining! Treat it as a cardigan with shorts and a tee in the summer, or pair with formal shirts, dresses, or even a soft turtleneck.
