Antique Kimono Nagajuban Robe - Red & White Pepperment Shibori Stripe

HK$1,980.00

1920s-1940s, Japan

Wow! A striking piece from early Showa era Japan, this kimono robe of soft, quality drapey silk is masterfully hand-dyed using the shibori or tie-dye technique in a amazing pattern of blood red stripes and dots on a base of fresh white. The  damask robe has a stiff collar of cotton, which can be covered with silk or cotton strips to ensure it stays clean.

Originally worn under the outer kimonos, the lightweight najajuban robe is great for pairing with any outfit to elongate the silhouette, add interest, culture and colour! Treat it as a long cardigan with shorts and a tee in the summer, or pair with formal shirts, dresses, or even a soft turtleneck.
